Gestão de Informação CientÃfica
The scientific community at ULisboa has several support structures dedicated to promoting research, development and innovation.
ULisboa Research Portal
The is a public access portal created to increase the visibility and impact of research and innovation at ULisboa. Through this interactive platform, it is possible to explore ULisboa's research and innovation activity, allowing searches by individual researcher profile, unit or free text. In addition to providing a comprehensive overview of ULisboa's areas of knowledge, the portal highlights the collaborative networks that emerge from the synergies established at the University and their impact on the .
The data is managed in the system, an integral part of ULisboa CRIS (Current Research Information System), officially designated as the ULisboa Integrated Scientific Information System (SIIC ULisboa). The SIIC ULisboa platform was developed to facilitate the management of scientific activity in an integrated, efficient and harmonised manner throughout the University.
As the public face of SIIC ULisboa, this portal promotes the transparency and accessibility of research carried out at ULisboa, reinforcing its dissemination both within and outside the institution. This initiative aims not only to give greater visibility to the work of ULisboa researchers, but also to stimulate new collaborations and partnerships in the scientific and academic community.
Obtain individual profile
All ULisboa researchers can have their scientific output registered in the Pure system, benefiting from an individual profile visible on the . However, the allocation of user accounts is limited and defined by each School, which follows internal best practices, prioritising researchers with regular scientific output. For those without direct access, data entry is ensured by the local editor.

ULisboa researchers can access an individual profile on Pure using their institutional email and credentials, via the link provided:

The integrates and provides information on the University's scientific output, with the support of researchers and a technical network of experts. Through the system, it gathers data on publications, projects, awards, activities and other types of scientific output, strengthening ULisboa's visibility and impact on the global research scene and providing a comprehensive overview of research at the individual, departmental, research unit and University levels.
ULisboa uses a set of Elsevier tools to manage its scientific information. connects to the system, which in turn exports data to the research intelligence tool and makes it available on the . In addition to the connection to and other indexed online databases, this cycle requires, in the first phase, importing from source systems. Subsequently, the maintenance of profiles requires the intervention of ULisboa-affiliated teachers/researchers (with a Pure access account) to update and improve their profiles.
The validation process aims to ensure the quality and robustness of the data, allowing the various internal and external stakeholders to benefit from this cycle for the preparation of reports based on the information available in Pure and presented on the public portal.
To ensure the uniformity of the process across ULisboa and to guarantee the reliability of the data extracted, assumptions have been established, presented in the document, regarding people, research results and other content in the Pure system.
The system is integrated into the national and European science ecosystem through automated interoperability synchronisations. At ULisboa, is the main system, where data must first be uploaded, to be later reused in the automated filling of other systems, in accordance with international best practices.
offers tools for the curation and management of each researcher's scientific information, facilitating the preparation of reports at various levels at ULisboa and allowing the individual reuse of recorded data.
In addition, can dynamically feed the internal websites of ULisboa's Schools and their Research Units, synchronising lists of publications and personalised researcher profiles.
The system will communicate with the following systems, exporting information:
- public portal
- Open Access Scientific Repositories of Portugal and in
- European Commission portal
- (directly or via and )
- Local CRIS systems (Biblios, Scholar, etc.).
The national network aims to collect, store, manage, preserve and provide access to all of ULisboa's scientific, humanistic and cultural output. The mandatory insertion and validation of output in Pure allows for a daily automatic process in which all documents inserted into this system are migrated to the repositories. This enables compliance with the open access mandate through the automated submission of publications validated in in Open Access to the national network and the European Commission's .
is fully interoperable with and , allowing all content uploaded to to be exported to those platforms. Thus, SIIC is in line with – the national science curriculum management system, allowing ULisboa researchers to feed their profile with data uploaded to .
is a database that indexes scientific output, enabling research and analysis in various fields. ULisboa has access to a Scopus subscription, allowing each researcher to authenticate themselves, and recommends its use as the preferred source for importing data into Pure, ensuring a greater volume and quality of information. Integration with Scopus enriches records in Pure and associated systems, such as the , , institutional websites, and other links.
Improving your individual Scopus profile
As a database, Scopus allows you to independently improve the information in your individual researcher profile using the tool. If you have any questions or concerns, you can request support from your local Pure editor.
is the official research intelligence platform at ULisboa, providing data for strategic reporting and decision support. ULisboa has access to an individual subscription, allowing each researcher to authenticate themselves and consult the institutional profile and their own profile indexed in Scopus.
Bibliometric analyses are performed based on publications validated by the Organisational Units in Pure, with specific periods and indicators that can be consulted in the the .
The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a persistent and interoperable digital identifier, consisting of an alphanumeric code with a prefix and suffix, which guarantees a unique and lasting link to a digital object and its associated information.
The assignment of a DOI includes descriptive metadata, facilitating indexing, searching and retrieval, thus increasing the visibility of digital objects on the web.
ULisboa, through its Schools and Research Units, offers a free DOI issuance service under the protocol of the with the agency.
Request the issuance of a DOI
Consult the Practical Guide and the Author's Statement on the DOI assignment process.
Contact the person/service responsible for assigning DOIs at the respective School and/or associated Research Units. If you have any questions, please contact the Rectorate team at the following email address: bibliotecas@reitoria.ulisboa.pt.
Correct institutional affiliation ensures recognition of ULisboa's scientific output, directly impacting the University's visibility, funding, and performance indicators. It should be noted that lecturers, researchers, scholarship holders or students of ULisboa or its associated Schools and Research Units must follow the guidelines for correct affiliation to ULisboa and use of institutional addresses in scientific output (Order No. 235/2016).
For questions about accessing Pure or the content presented on the , please contact the local support team at each School or the Rectorate.
