Agro-Food and Forestry (redeAGRO)

Created as part of the University of Lisbon's Interdisciplinary Thematic Networks, the Agro-Food and Forestry (redeAGRO) network brings together teachers and researchers from the various schools and institutes to support the University of Lisbon in communicating scientific evidence on current topics of societal interest, contributing to informing citizens and to scientific and political decision-making.

The Agro-Food and Forestry (redeAGRO) network aims to stimulate the University of Lisbon's academic community to systematise and produce contextualised and independent scientific knowledge that integrates the value and competitiveness of agricultural and forestry production with the main current environmental, territorial, social and economic issues, as well as preparing the main future challenges for the sector.

It proposes to direct its activity towards the promotion and coordination of a platform that debates, systematises and contextualises existing scientific evidence and identifies the main gaps in knowledge regarding emerging problems with a high societal impact and/or media attention, positioning the University of Lisbon as an unavoidable think-tank for informing decision-makers and citizens in good time.

The aim is to promote collaborative actions that help support the development of an agenda and strategy that integrates science and public policy for the agri-food and forestry sector. To this end, the Agro-Food and Forestry (redeAGRO) network will interact with Associated Laboratories that are part of the University of Lisbon's research centres and with the Food, Farming and Forestry College (F3), strengthening its competences and positioning itself on national, European and global agendas and platforms.
